Maybe we simply must close our eyes to temptation. But that could be anti-productive as well. A difficult situation, a real dilemma, living with temptation but avoiding it at the same time.
I agree with Kent, it looks like the baby is meditating! I guess that's one way to avoid temptation. But on the other hand... you'd miss all the other great things in life at the same time.
Mrs D, he was actually asleep in his carrier, set upon a chair in the dining room, when his dad thought it would be rather clever to hold the cherry in front of his face, and have me take the picture.
Kent, you are right in one regard. I ~did~ enhance the color of the cherry, or rather I diminished the saturation of all the other tones in the image. On a day that a war correspondent was humilated for using Photoshop to ~expand~ the billowing smoke (and rather transparently at that) in one of his images of the bombings in the Holy Land, I admit that I do like to use Photoshop, on these images. It is part of the creative process.
Jana, I think his dad was struck by that very fact. that the boy appeared to be meditating. Now in regards to the rest of your comment, in meditation, you are supposed to be ~more~ aware of your surroundings, and therefore would not supposedly be ~missing~ anything.
Thanks Dave and Joelle.
Patry, I am increasingly struck by the sense that the temptations are many and they come from all sources, and all directions. How to hold on to the true course.
Chrysalis, sometimes I can't tell whether the request or proposal or suggestion is a temptation and a diversion, or an invitation to growth and recovery. Other times it seems pretty clear.
HA! The photo loaded really slowly for me for some reason, so I read the poem twice before the picture appeared. Perfect, including the timing! As if by design.

That is just too cute!!! Look how he's closing his eyes to the "bait" LOL
A perfect photo--and a question we need to ask ourselves every day. What indeed?

Wow, you are hitting home with me today ...

He looks like he is in a Zen state, resisting. Are you sure you didn't photoshop the cherry? (just kidding).
This is wonderful.
Thanks

Hmm... that's true, medidation IS supposed to make you MORE aware, isn't it?
Maybe the baby is practicing a new type? LOL
Peace is becoming more rare and more precious with each day... what an adorable photo and she does represent peace and innocence.
Very interesting - almost painful to look at for the universal archetype it suggests. Beautiful.
