Father

An image of g. (in his father's lap) and family.

Being a father is probably the most challenging thing a man can do.

There is no roadmap. No manual to read.

What you learned from your Dad is problably not going to be enough to carry you through.

There will be mistakes, and gross errors, and times when you want to set the clock back, and try some conversation again, or do the week, or the month, or the year, differently.

There are times when you kick yourself for not being there, to prevent a fall,

And times when you don't know what to say, or what to do,

And there are times when you are so filled with pride, and wondrous awe, at the child before you, and are struck with amazement that this will, in some way, work out well, after all.

A charming photograph. What you say about fathers is true. I feel it. It amazes me that an unqualified man such as I has managed to raise three wonderful cildren.

Happy Fathers' Day to you, g.

Happy Father's Day G!!! A very nice fitting picture for the day. Your mom and dad look sort of formal but there is sand on your dad's shoes...

Sweet photo of such a good looking family!

My husband trained with the special forces in the army, but he says being a dad is much harder. Not for just anyone!

Happy Father's Day to you, g!

Thank you, all of you, for the Father's Day wishes.

Chrysalis, that word "raise" has so many interesting meanings. Raise corn. Raise voices. And raise children. And maybe we have to raise our voices occasionaly, while we are raising our children.

I usually think of the process as more like accompanying them, or maybe chaperoning them, on a long exciting and somewhat dangerous roller coaster ride.

Abby I agree totally with your husband. And he had training for the special forces. What exactly is the training for fatherhood?

Presence. Right. Sand. And get a look at the socks I am wearing!

Happy Father's Day.

Let your thoughts give you comfort and your memories give you happiness. For it is the child that makes us the parent the teacher the continuance of us.
